How to Make Your Own Patterned Tote Bag
It is easier than it seems to make your own professional looking bag. All you need is some acrylic paint, fabric medium, paintbrushes, pencil/erasers and an idea!
Oh yeah, and a tote bag.
First step is sketching out your pattern or design. You can write a quote or create your own pattern. Its up to you!
Next, you need to start mixing your paint. Depending on the directions of your acrylic medium, add it to your acrylic paint mixture. Make sure it is a little lighter than you want, because acrylic paint dries darker!
Next is the fun part… painting! Try to paint over all the pencil marks, because they are hard to erase. You will most likely need multiple layers of paint, as the first layer soaks through the fabric… that reminds me! PUT SOMETHING IN BETWEEN THE LAYERS ON THE BAG SO IT DOESNT STICK TOGETHER!!!!!
A good thing to have when decorateing your tote bag is acrylic paint markers or pens. I LOVE the brand posca’s markers for this project. This will really help you to outline and make details.
And voila! you have made your very own tote bag that looks like you bought it at the store!
