March 2024 Plan With Me
To organize my life, I have three methods that I update each week: my planner, google calendar, and my whiteboard. Today, I am going to show you how I plan my life using a DIY planner. Do-it-yourself planners (AKA Bullet Journals) are a fun and creative way to keep your life in order!
First, I sketch out my design for the month. I normally do start this process 1-2 weeks before the new month. That way, everything is ready ahead of time for perfect planning purposes!
Here is an example of how I sketched out my March theme for this year. I wanted to revert back to my old layout style; a 2 column 2 row grid of rectangles on each page, giving my 8 individual boxes. I separate these boxes into “Monday”, “Tuesday”, “Wednesday”, “Thursday”, “Friday”, “Saturday”, and “Notes”.
It is so important to sketch out your spreads before you commit to the final copy, so that it looks the most professional… even though this is DIY, if it looks too sloppy it will defeat the purpose of being an organizer. For this planner, we are aiming for equally spaced boxes and the same font on each page. Planning out your pages with pencil allows you the capability to make each page uniform while also preventing any mistakes.
For the next step, I slightly erase my pencil marks to prime the page. Then, I go in with the color I am adding to this theme. For this month, I used a light green mildliner highliter. I went in with this marker to write my headers, to make my bullet points, and to color in the background of the subheadings.
After adding my accent color, I went in with my pilot g-2 0.38 black pen. I used this pen to make outlines of the boxes and to write my subheadings.
Next up, its time to start planning! I start by writing down my classes and their times for each week. It looks a little something like this:
After that, I go through my google calendar and write down any events or appointments I have during the month. This way, when the time comes, I already have my schedule written down. This makes my life easier on Sundays, because thats when I plan for the week ahead!
Then, I go through my assignment calendar and write down all of my due dates for the month. I like to add a little astric next to the assignments to differentiate them.
And finally, I am all ready for March! I hope you enjoyed planning along with me, and I hope I was able to give you some inspiration.
Until next time,
